This year, the term “supply chain” has become a common household topic. Unfortunately, those working in supply chain would rather discuss other topics at home, as it has been a challenging two years with several supply chain disruptions impacting the global economy.
Supply chains are receiving more attention because consumers are unable to locate items, and when they do, the costs have increased.
FBD Partnership’s supply chain has continuously evolved to become more innovative and flexible to support the needs of our manufacturing line and our customers. Frequent communication with vendors has allowed us to identify material shortages before they become problematic.
Costs and lead times for several commodities that were previously easy to source have increased exponentially. FBD Partnership’s logistics providers explored and utilized alternative options that were never considered before due to increased transit times, limited equipment availability, and costs.
During 2021, we did our best to mitigate cost increases throughout our global logistics network by increasing container cube capacity and utilizing domestic sourcing to fill urgent demand. Moving forward FBD Partnership will continue to develop and diversify our supply chain with multiple qualified vendors from different regions while having continuous communication to understand impacts to our costs and lead times.
