The biggest concern for 2012 is the uncertainty in our industry and for that matter most industries.
For the transportation industry there will be either consolidation of steamship companies or bankruptcies, as 2011 was a déjà vu of 2009 with horrendous losses that could not be controlled.
As to the broader economy and the regulatory world, the economy is stunted because there is too much regulation. The people in Washington cannot agree on the time of day let alone anything else. Not one of them has mentioned the simplest of measures – stop Medicare fraud, welfare fraud, food stamp fraud, governmental contractor fraud; repeal Sarbanes-Oxley, Dodd-Frank and the health care law.
They keep talking about “what the American people want” and they have no clue.
We can only hope that a modicum of stability returns to the global community allowing everyone to share in success, peace and normalcy.
