2011 Atlanta Educational Session Topics Announced by IANA-NITL-TIA

CALVERTON, MD – ARLINGTON, VA – ALEXANDRIA, VA, Sept. 8, 2011 – The most highlyanticipated freight transportation event in North America will be held Nov. 13-15, 2011 when the Intermodal Association of North America, The National Industrial Transportation League, and the Transportation Intermediaries Association hold their co-located conferences at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Ga. Following are the timely concurrent educational sessions that are being offered at this year’s event that features IANA’s Intermodal Expo, The NITL’s TransComp Exhibition and Annual Membership Meeting, and TIA’s Fall Meeting:

Is the North American Intermodal Network Resilient?: Historically, intermodal transportation has been resilient, more easily handling peaks, surges and imbalances than other modes. This session will examine intermodal resiliency in the past, present, and offer insight on the future.

More Capacity Through Intermodal Corridors: Key intermodal service providers will discuss new infrastructure that has been developed through public/private partnerships and the additional efficiencies and capacity that these investments bring to the market.

What Do Shippers Want? Global and National Perspectives: Members of the Global Shippers’ Forum, which represents worldwide shipper organizations, will discuss their most important concerns regarding freight transportation providers.

Dude – Where’s My Chassis?: The chassis provisioning process continues to evolve. This session will examine current and potential future changes and emerging market trends for chassis. Volatile Times: Renowned transportation and logistics economist Noel Perry will discuss his views on truck and rail capacity, the economy, and provide a 24-month forecast during this informative session.

Defining the Intermodal Buy: This session offers a panel of key shippers who will discuss important issues that impact their decision to use intermodal transportation services, while providing insight into their future intermodal-related needs.

Sustainability in the Freight Transportation Industry: Sustainability is not a trend in freight transportation – it’s here to stay. This primer by insightful industry leaders will educate attendees on sustainability and how it will change their businesses in the future.

Capacity Solutions: In today’s tight and tightening capacity market, finding and keeping capacity is important; so is making your freight attractive to carriers. This interactive session will feature shippers, 3PLs and carriers discussing all things capacity-related.
