2012 IANA Operations & Maintenance Seminar Sessions Announced

CALVERTON, MD., Mar. 1, 2012 – The Intermodal Association of North America today announced the education session topics for its 2012 Intermodal Operations & Maintenance Seminar. Registration also opened today for the intermodal industry’s largest and most comprehensive meeting of its kind in the U.S. It will be held May 2-3, 2012 in Oak Brook, Ill. at the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Hotel.

The educational sessions announced include the following:

State of the Intermodal Industry: Pat Casey, one of the industry’s leading freight experts, will provide his analysis of the current intermodal marketplace, the economic impacts of U.S. and international economies, and insight into continuing and emerging industry trends.

Intermodal Equipment Inspections – Demonstrations and Training: This “hands-on” live equipment demonstration of pre-trip and Level 1 roadside inspections will help motor carriers and their drivers, facility operators, and intermodal equipment providers, comply with current roadability regulations (due to high demand, this session will be held twice).

Roadside Repairs – Avoiding Unnecessary Delays: This analysis of key emerging trends will provide insight on strategies to avoid costly roadside downtime, and will show where, when and why delays are happening, their possible causes and how to prevent them.

Revisiting Chassis Business Models: Representatives from the ATA Intermodal Carriers Conference will outline their newly proposed business model for chassis provisioning, which would position motor carriers as equipment providers and pool operators for the first time.

There will also be excellent networking opportunities for attendees including the casino night-themed “Betting on Intermodal” Welcome Reception and Supplier Showcase, as well as the IANA Golf Outing on May 2.
