Agility Delivers Actavis Pharmaceuticals to 11 Countries in One Day
BASEL, Switzerland – December 15, 2011 - Agility, a leading global logistics provider, has been selected as the exclusive supplier for Actavis EU patent expiry product launches. Actavis is one of the world's leading players in the development, manufacturing and sales of first-class generic pharmaceuticals.
A patent expiry product launch takes place on a specific day, at a fixed hour, a certain number of years after the original drug has been granted a patent for its production, so timely delivery is of critical importance to the success of the launch.
Agility Spain was selected to transport 300 pallets of Actavis generic medicine from the production site in Malta to 11 European countries for these patent expiry product launches. Benefiting from Agility’s extensive expertise in pharmaceutical supply chain management and full temperature control processes, Actavis was able to clear all deliveries on time.
“Management of the pharmaceutical supply chain is a critical activity which requires adequately designed facilities, documentation systems and trained staff,” said James Hare, Agility’s Branch Manager Spain. “Agility offers in-depth expertise and was able to deliver a customized and high-quality solution to Actavis. Our team members have GDP (Good Distribution Practice) accreditation for the transport of pharmaceuticals and are therefore trained to successfully transport and deliver the equipment within a very challenging and strict time frame.”
With an impressive track record in pharmaceutical logistics and a long-standing relationship with Actavis, Agility continues to improve its services in line with Actavis’ needs. In the course of 2011, Agility Spain has successfully completed six pharmaceutical charters for Actavis across Europe.
