Agility Selected as Core Logistics Provider for Henkel

JOC Staff |
HONG KONG - Agility, a leading global logistics provider, has been awarded a five year contract by Henkel China to be the exclusive logistics partner for its mega HUB project, “Project Dragon.” Project Dragon is designed to streamline Henkel’s manufacturing in China to cover growth over the next 10 years and to leverage significant economies of scale in manufacturing and supply chain processes.

The contract will start in 2013 and Agility will be providing services ranging from inbound logistics, warehousing of raw material and finished goods, production supply and clearance and outbound logistics.

Agility was selected on the basis of its proven capabilities and reach, as well as its strong understanding of the region’s logistics landscape. With the company’s track record of chemicals experience in China and Asia Pacific, including DSM and Borouge, Agility was ideally positioned to be the best logistics provider for Henkel.

“The early involvement of Agility is key to the success of Project Dragon, and will help ensure the best operational set-up,” said Patrick Westkamp, Asia Pacific leader for Purchasing Logistics at Henkel. “In Agility we have found a partner who can support us across the entire logistics supply chain and in the design and planning phase of the new facility.”

“This win is further recognition of Agility’s regional expertise, its specialty capability, solutions and assets – and how these can be leveraged to support the growth of a large multinational within emerging markets,” said James Gagne, Agility CEO, Greater China Area.

Henkel operates worldwide with leading brands and technologies in three business areas: Laundry & Home Care, Cosmetics/Toiletries and Adhesive Technologies. Founded in 1876, Henkel holds globally leading market positions both in the consumer and industrial businesses with well-known brands such as Persil, Schwarzkopf and Loctite. Henkel employs about 48,000 people and reported sales of 15,092 million Euros and adjusted operating profit of 1,862 million Euros in fiscal 2010. Henkel’s preferred shares are listed in the German stock index, DAX, and the company ranks among the Fortune Global 500.
