Alibaba.com Partners with The JOC to Bring More High-value Content to Its Community of Buyers
Hangzhou, September 24, 2013 – Alibaba.com (www.alibaba.com), the leading global e-commerce platform for small businesses, this month sealed a partnership with JOC Group, Inc. to introduce the latter’s proprietary logistics and global trade-related content in the “Trade Intelligence” section of the Alibaba.com Buyer Community.
Headquartered in the US, The JOC is one of the leading global providers of business intelligence for trade, transportation and logistics professionals worldwide. Founded in 1827, it delivers editorial content in print and online at JOC.com, and for decades has been an authoritative source of professional knowledge and commentary relied on by international logistics executives. Under the new partnership, The JOC will provide Alibaba.com’s community of business buyers with high-value news and insights in areas such as logistics, trade, government policies and the global economy, enabling them to make better-informed sourcing decisions. In return, Alibaba.com will leverage its extensive online SME database to help build awareness of The JOC in China.
“With tight resources and a higher expectation from their end customers, small and medium-sized buyers nowadays are in need of a resource of market information with which they can make smarter business decisions,” said Vincent Wong, head of Buyer Service and Development for Alibaba.com. “We are pleased to work with The JOC to enrich our online library of news stories, white papers and market reports around international trade and e-commerce. The JOC’s expertise in logistics-related content will particularly be of value to Alibaba.com buyers who are looking to expand their global market presence.”
Unveiled in May this year, Alibaba.com’s Buyer Community is designed to serve as a knowledge base from where its members can learn about Alibaba.com products and services as well as best practices in international trade and e-commerce. It features a “Trade Intelligence” section, which offers content from various outside partners with expertise in international trade.
The JOC has a longstanding presence in the China market including its annual TPM Asia container shipping conference, the leading event of its kind in China. It is also a co-organizer of the annual World Shipping (China) Summit along with COSCO. As an extension of the collaboration between Alibaba.com and The JOC, Alibaba.com’s International Logistics and Trade Director Max Liu will deliver a keynote address at the upcoming TPM Asia conference to be held in Shenzhen, China on October 16-17. Now in its seventh year, the conference is expected to attract some 600 attendees to discuss a range of pressing issues affecting container shipping and logistics in Asia.
