MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, 14 SEPTEMBER, 2010: Retailing giant Target Corporation has presented its Vice President’s Award for Excellence to APL, one of the world’s leading container shipping lines. The award – Target’s supply chain honor – was announced this month at Target’s Minneapolis headquarters.

“This award recognizes the top service provider that made significant contributions to our supply chain,” explained Rick Gabrielson, Director Import Transportation for Target. “By demonstrating partnership, flexibility and superior execution, APL allowed Target to deliver its customers a Guest-Focused Supply Chain in 2009.”

The Target award is the second in two years for a business unit of NOL Group – APL’s parent company. Last year, the Vice President’s Award went to supply chain services provider APL Logistics.

APL has long been a leading ocean carrier for Target’s international supply chain. It transports Target imports from Asia, Europe and Latin America to the U.S. APL Logistics manages nearly all cargo origin points for Target in China and Latin America.

“Given the magnitude of our relationship and the importance of the Target brand worldwide, we’re gratified to win this award,” said APL Americas President Gene Seroka. “Our job now is to validate the confidence Target has shown in APL and to exceed the expectations they have for us.”
