Appointment to the Quebec Port Authority

OTTAWA — The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Claude Rousseau of Québec City to the board of directors of the Québec Port Authority for a three-year term.

I am pleased that Mr. Rousseau has agreed to serve on the board of the Québec Port Authority, said Minister Lebel. His breadth of experience in business and strong leadership skills will greatly benefit the Authority.

Mr. Rousseau has a diploma in Business Administration from Université Laval in Québec City. Since 2008, he has been the president of the Remparts de Québec, which includes managing three sporting events and a radio station. Prior to that, Mr. Rousseau was vice-president of Sales at Grandes Entreprises, a Canadian telecommunications company. In the 1990s, he held a number of executive positions at Bell Canada including: vice-president of Finance and Strategic Planning; vice-president of Client Services; vice-president of Sales (Bell Mobility); and vice-president of Small and Medium Enterprises. Mr. Rousseau also serves on various boards including CAA Québec (CEO since June 1, 2012), the Jean-Michel Anctil Foundation, the Organisme d'autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ), and the Société du Centre des congrès de Québec.

The Québec Port Authority is the Canada Port Authority (CPA) established to manage the Port of Québec, under the Canada Marine Act. Eighteen CPAs now make up Canada's national port system. The CPAs are non-share capital corporations incorporated under the Canada Marine Act that are of strategic significance to Canada's trade. Their effective operation contributes to Canada's global competitiveness.
