Appointment to the Trois-Rivières Port Authority
OTTAWA — The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Luc Arvisais of Shawinigan-Sud, Quebec, to the board of directors of the Trois-Rivières Port Authority for a three-year term.
I am pleased that Mr. Arvisais has agreed to serve on the board of the Trois-Rivières Port Authority, said Minister Lebel. His impressive background in business development and strategic planning will be a great asset to the Port Authority. His track record of serving the public with commitment and vision will serve him well in this role.
Mr. Arvisais holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration from the Université du Québec in Trois-Rivières. He is currently the Director General (DG) of the Centre local de développement de Shawinigan, a position he has held since 2007. His extensive work experience includes serving as the DG of the popular Festival Western St-Tite from 2004 to 2007, as well as the Fonds régional de solidarité FTQ Mauricie/Centre du Québec from 2001 to 2004. He has generously volunteered his time to hospitals, business associations, and festivals in the area for over 20 years. Considered an expert in his field, he also teaches at the Université du Québec in Trois-Rivières. As the recipient of multiple awards, Mr. Arvisais is well known for his commitment to supporting and developing local business and culture.
The Trois-Rivières Port Authority is the Canada Port Authority (CPA) established to manage the Port of Trois-Rivières, under the Canada Marine Act. Eighteen CPAs now make up Canada's national port system. The CPAs are non-share capital corporations incorporated under the Canada Marine Act that are of strategic significance to Canada's trade. Their effective operation contributes to Canada's global competitiveness.
