ARCOP, Inc. Selects Transplace for Instant Supply Chain Visibility and Service Improvement
November 30, 2010 (Dallas, TX) – ARCOP, a leading cooperative for Arby’s restaurants, selected Transplace as its third party logistics (3PL) provider to efficiently manage shipments throughout the United States. Transplace will bring to ARCOP deep domain expertise in cooperative business, along with on-demand supply chain visibility, providing transparency for day-to-day operations decisions. As an award-winning company providing management services and logistics technology solutions for large corporations as well as growth-oriented companies, Transplace’s Transportation Management System (TMS) will provide shipment lifecycle visibility, reduce direct transportation costs and improve overall operational efficiencies for ARCOP.
“We set out to find the best partner and found in Transplace, excellent technology tools and proven processes that allow ARCOP to better manage business and identify opportunities to ultimately drive the best landed costs to our restaurants,” said ARCOP President David Cox. “Transplace also gives us added supply continuity to our restaurants through their extensive carrier development program. They have long-standing relationships with a large carrier network to help ensure that we will have products available when they are needed for our customers.”
Wendy Kleefeld, vice president, supply management added: “The Transplace engineering team came up with the right solution from the start. When we arrived at their operations center, the business intelligence tools were demonstrated, showing us the power of the data and what we could learn from it. We were very impressed to see the business intelligence development and utilization by Transplace.”
Transplace has invested heavily in business intelligence with the understanding that visibility tools are a key to success. The web-based portal allows Transplace customers to produce standard and custom reports on-demand or on a scheduled basis to generate detailed insight and greater visibility into their transportation operations in real-time or on a historical basis to identify trends. This has been an area Transplace has delivered on for multiple years to their customers and a tool the cooperative and Quick Serve Restaurant (QSR) industry has been requesting for a long time.
“Cooperatives have their own set of needs and challenges, and Transplace has many years of experience and knowledge to assist ARCOP with better leverage for freight spend, as well as strategic planning that serves the cooperative and its partners,” said Transplace President & CEO Tom Sanderson.
Kleefeld continued: “As a co-op, we consider ourselves a relationship management organization. We’re focused on making sure that all collaborating parties, ARCOP, suppliers, distribution partners and ultimately the restaurants receive best in class service. Collaboration across the supply chain and visibility to all is vital to ensuring the best service and on-time delivery. Any delay can cause disruption and inefficiencies. In the end, we chose Transplace, with its Lean Six Sigma processes, as the optimal partner to support our franchisee membership.”
