Avianca to manage its codeshare flights with SchedConnect from Lufthansa Systems

Avianca opted for the codeshare management solution SchedConnect from Lufthansa Systems. The advanced system is already used by TACA which forms part of the same airline group. With SchedConnect the Latin American carriers can optimize their codeshare management which leads to cost savings and higher revenues.

Preparing for their official membership of Star Alliance in April 2012, AviancaTaca makes an essential step towards fulfilling Star Alliance membership requirements with the implementation of SchedConnect at Avianca as well. This will enable the carrier to benefit from the seamless and continuous exchange of data that takes place between all partners and systems involved. SchedConnect is the most advanced system of its kind available today. It calculates the optimum codeshare assignments based on the current flight schedules. If a minimum connecting time is violated due to a schedule change or if a partner flight is cancelled, SchedConnect assigns automatically the marketing flight number to another suitable connecting flight. Changes are sent through the reservation systems to travel agents and customers as well as to the operations and passenger-related systems of the airlines involved.

AviancaTaca, the leading group of airlines in Latin America, services more than 100 destinations in America and Europe. The fleet consists of 140 aircraft, including 57 from the A320 family and five from the A330. The airline group transported almost 18 million passengers in 2010.
