Baker Park Opening Celebration Planned for May 4

Mayor Bob Foster, the Office of Councilmember James Johnson, and the Departments of Parks, Recreation and Marine, and Public Works, invite the public to attend an opening event for the Baker Park on Saturday, May 4, at 11 am. The new 1.25-acre park is located at 625 Baker Street at Golden Avenue.

"Not only are we adding some much-needed green space, but a new park in Long Beach gives our residents more opportunities to be active and enjoy a healthier lifestyle," said Mayor Bob Foster.

Park amenities include picnic areas, a universally accessible playground and a walking path.

"Baker Park is the second park to open in a community that until recently had no park space at all," 7th District Councilmember James Johnson said. "Thanks go to the community partners that made this park a reality."

The park project was funded with $500,000 from the Los Angeles County Park District, $100,000 from Long Beach Container Terminal and park impact fees.
