PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Quintiq announced today that Canadian National (CN) has signed a multi-million dollar software license to roll out the Quintiq Logistics Planner, a routing, scheduling and truck dispatch solution across its intermodal operations. Quintiq is a leading provider of Advanced Planning and Scheduling software (APS) solutions and CN is Canada's largest freight railroad and one of the largest rail cargo networks in North America.

The Quintiq Logistics Planner consolidates the intermodal logistics management requirements in a single, unified system, integrating a variety of logistics services to provide organization-wide transparency, communication, and operational direction.

The Quintiq Logistics Planner empowers CN to further optimize its complex transportation supply chain and improve its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and competitive market position. CN will deploy the software into its intermodal logistics department where dispatchers and customer service representatives manage the day-to-day operations. Once deployed, Logistics Planner will help CN maintain superior service levels, and efficiently manage trucking operations. The project will begin in January 2011.

As a well-established advanced planning solutions provider in Europe, Quintiq is quickly gaining market share in the North American logistics market. In addition to the partnership with CN, Quintiq is currently implementing a global transportation solution for Pennsylvania-based Air Products, a multi-billion dollar market leader providing industrial gases, performance materials, equipment and services.
