Cargo Center certified for “fast-track” inspections

JOC Staff |
Cargo Center at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport has become the first ground handling agent in Scandinavia to be certified by The Authorised Economic Operator, AEO. The newly acquired status will lead to faster and more economically effective customs procedures.

As the first ground handling agent in Scandinavia, Cargo Center in Sweden has been awarded the AEO Certification. The certificate is to enhance security in logistic chains; it represents the European equivalent of the C-TPAT implemented in the USA, thus also directed against terrorism. Companies having the AEO status are subject to less physical controls by customs authorities and have priority for inspection.

“The AEO certification is a great honour and will give our customers a green lane were their goods can cross the EU and other borders almost without restrictions. I’m very satisfied that our hard efforts have led to this award.” says Claes-Göran Eriksson, Quality, Security & Environmental Manager at Cargo Center Sweden AB.

“We are happy to have partners at our airport that tries to be in the forefront of the developments in our business. There are constantly new challenges in terms of security and customs control which affects our cargo customers in the industry. Cargo Center’s new certification will hopefully strengthen our position as Europe’s best cargo airport in the weight class 500.000 tonnes and below, which was awarded the airport in 2009 by one of the leading air cargo publications.” says Björn Ragnebrink, Director Business Development at The LFV Group

The AEO holders will enjoy a range of advantages through accelerated and economically effective customs procedures. Among others, the AEO will also bring the benefits of:
• Being recognised as a secure and credible business partner in international trade by business partners from other EU member states and other significant countries (USA, Canada, Switzerland, China, Korea, Brazil)
• Reduced scope and frequency of customs controls
• Priority customs clearance
• The notification of a customs control made in advance and the possibility to choose a place where the control will be performed
• Reduced data to be provided in import and export custom declarations.
