CaseStack Hits Sales Milestone Fulfilling One Millionth Order

Santa Monica, Calif., July 27, 2009 -- CaseStack, a third-party logistics provider specializing in sustainable supply chain management, fulfilled its one millionth order this month, marking the company's 10-year anniversary with a growth trend during a slow economy.

CaseStack CEO and President Dan Sanker attributed the achievement to the company's sustainable, efficient logistics programs. With logistics accounting for 5-10 percent of a product's cost, CaseStack's retailer consolidation program is a perfect fit for suppliers during a stifled economy.

The program strategically warehouses suppliers' products with those of other suppliers usually requested by retailers at the same time. CaseStack then creates and follows a master purchase order listing the various suppliers' products and combines them on the same full truckload, shortening delivery times and reducing costs and damages. The program is also sustainable by design due to the reduced frequency of less-than-truckload (LTL) orders eliminating carbon emissions.

It's a myth that cutting costs requires cutting service, said CaseStack CEO and President Dan Sanker. Our consolidation program is increasingly attractive. We work directly with retailers to reduce suppliers' transportation costs by 20 percent to 40 percent, cut transit times in half and increase on-time rates.

And with retailers' emphasizing efficiency, CaseStack logistics and transportation customers are saving money, increasing their supply chain reliability and becoming more attractive to retailers simultaneously, Sanker said.

CaseStack opened in 1999 based in Santa Monica, Calif. Since then, CaseStack has branched out, with 3.5 million square feet of warehouse space in nine cities throughout North America. In 2007, CaseStack opened a regional headquarters in Fayetteville, Ark., in close proximity to more than 1,300 consumer product goods suppliers to play a leadership role in the industry in CPG, SCM and sustainability. The office has added another 18 people since February.

Sanker advised companies to focus on optimizing resource allocation during the economic downturn. That way, he said, they will be in a better position once the situation improves.

Look for ways to increase return without expending more resources, Sanker said. Sustainability is synonymous with optimization. We've emphasized the programs we know improve service and cut costs and marked a major milestone in the process.
