Century Receives Innovation Award From Mark's Work Warehouse

RICHMOND, VA, JULY 31, 2012: Mark’s Work Wearhouse Ltd. presented Century Distribution Systems, Inc. with an Innovation Award on July 18 at its biennial “Vendor Corral” session in Calgary, Alberta. The award recognizes Century as a valued, long-term 3PL partner who demonstrates steadfast commitment to engineering supply chain efficiencies. Ian Gilbert, Vice President Supply Chain for Mark’s, presented the award to Century’s Jim McCullen, Vice President, and Charlie Falconer, Project Manager. “Century is an amazing partner to have,” said Gilbert as he handed the award to the Century recipients.

More than 200 vendors and service providers attended the Vendor Corral session to learn about Mark’s Work’s strategy for growing the company.

“It was extremely gratifying to receive this award from Mark’s,” McCullen said. “We’ve had the privilege of working with them since 2001. Mark’s is an ideal partner for Century because they constantly challenge the status quo and seek out improvements. For example, their transition to a new in-house merchandise management portfolio (PMM) presented us with an opportunity to add significant value. We’re feeding global ASN data from our cloud-based system, VMS®, to the new PMM system driven by JD Edwards. Our data feeds allow Mark’s to prioritize inbound product, formulate transload plans, pre-print carton labels, all with the goal of optimizing merchandise stocking to the retail stores.” Century integration teams worked directly with Mark’s to maintain existing supply chain visibility and operations during the transition to JD Edwards.

Charlie Falconer added, “This award clearly recognizes the effort put forth by each of the Century teams across the globe.” The VMS® web portal supports hundreds of Mark’s vendors spanning a dozen Asian countries. “We’re planning more innovations for Mark’s in the coming months, many geared towards their vendor community,” Falconer explained. “For example, we’re now working on carton label printing, plus the ability for vendors to access forecasts, print POs, commercial invoices and packing lists, all within our web portal.”

Mark's Work Wearhouse, part of the Canadian Tire group of companies, operates 380 retail stores across Canada. Mark’s carries exclusive private labels and Canada’s most popular clothing brands.
