Milan, Italy, 6 July, 2011 – CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, has renewed its partnership with Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM), a subsidiary of the multinational automotive company Honda, extending the existing contract for a further three years.

CEVA Ground Europe, based in Antwerp, Belgium, will continue to manage the customer’s European inbound logistics operations, handling the collection of parts from suppliers in over 40 locations across Europe and transporting them to the HUM production plant in Swindon, UK. The solution, provided by CEVA Ground, ensures that the parts are delivered, handled and presented correctly to meet HUM’s build program requirements. The logistics operator also manages third-party hauliers and transport providers, as well as transportation planning and delivery control activities. In addition, CEVA will provide Network Engineering, full KPI Reporting and freight invoice auditing to ensure that HUM’s high quality standards are maintained. The wide range of services offered to the customer is underpinned by CEVA’s advanced IT solutions, which provide HUM with visibility of this element of their supply chain through event management services, from point of collection to point of delivery. Using the same processes, CEVA Ground will also control the return of empty packaging.

CEVA Ground offers full transportation management services for cross-border transportation in Europe and focuses on continuous value creation in transportation, reducing cost while reducing CO2 emissions through load consolidation and effective route planning.

Wouter Coppens, Managing Director, CEVA Ground Europe, commented: “We have worked in partnership with HUM over the last two years in order to develop and implement an efficient ex-works collection service which meets the changing and evolving needs of HUM’s business. We are confident that CEVA Ground, thanks to its wide expertise, established network and excellent IT infrastructure, is capable of providing HUM with efficient and responsive solutions, improving and delivering increasing value to their supply chain. This contract renewal is testament to the excellent and successful collaboration between CEVA and HUM: it will enable us to increase the customer’s overall supply chain effectiveness through a further deployment of enhanced logistics planning services.”

Dave Taylor, Divisional Manager, Parts Logistics of HUM, commented: “Our key objective was to create a more efficient supply chain and in achieving this, we have increased flexibility and parts visibility, while reducing costs and overall emissions. The decision to renew this contract was lead by the strong and positive relationship with our partner and by the awareness of CEVA’s great experience, qualified resources and open minded approach.”
