Milan, Italy, 19 October 2011 – CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s leading supply chain companies, has renewed its partnership with Continental Italy, a leading global supplier to the Automotive sector, for a further three years.

CEVA will take charge of the logistics activities for Continental Italy’s tires, managing the loading and unloading of bulk products from vehicles, the handling and storage in specialist metal cages provided by the customer, as well as the picking, shipment and distribution of the items through CEVA’s network nationwide. 24,000 sq m will be dedicated to the customer within CEVA’s warehouse at Somaglia, near Lodi, handling approximately two million outgoing pieces per year, the equivalent of 20,000 tons, through the use of 10 inbound and 25 outbound vehicles every day.

Francesco Domenghini, Market Operations Manager of Continental Italy, commented: “We decided to renew our partnership with CEVA for a further three years because we are very satisfied with the services they have provided. Our two companies share the values that underpin Continental Italy’s mission: an approach based on excellence and the use of advanced technological systems. On this basis we have developed our partnership with CEVA, who has been our logistics partner in Italy since 1997. As a result of their constant focus on innovation, vital for the Automotive sector, the logistics operator has fully understood our needs and has developed cutting-edge, tailored services, such as the advanced visual management system, for the management of our supply chain.”

Continental Italy will benefit from the expertise CEVA has developed in the tires sector, with a wide range of high quality, efficient logistics solutions. In addition, CEVA will provide two important special services, ‘Same Day’, a solution which guarantees distribution across the province of Milan within 24 hours, and ‘Pit Stop’, an express delivery service which serves the national territory ensuring distribution within 24 hours to all Italian regions with exception of Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia, where deliveries are guaranteed within 48 hours. CEVA will also install a visual management system in Continental Italy’s headquarters in Milan; a database which gives information about the status of all the inbound processes, and provides all data in real time to guarantee the customer constant visibility of its goods.

Alberto Scagnetti, Divisional Director Automotive and Industrial for CEVA in Italy, said: “We are proud to have renewed our collaboration with Continental Italy which is due to our focus on Operations Excellence and continuous improvement – elements that underpin our organizational culture. We have been able to use our expertise in the tire sector to Continental Italy’s advantage in a market segment which is characterized by short delivery cycles and a range of products with very different sizes and weights. One of CEVA’s strengths lies in not only providing traditional services, but also value added solutions, such as ‘Same Day’ and ‘Pit Stop, which provide fast and punctual deliveries across the country by leveraging our extensive warehouse and transport network.”
