CEVA wins contract to manage Lavazza’s supply chain in Spain and Portugal
Madrid, Spain, 7 September 2011 - CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s leading supply chain management companies, has been awarded a contract by Lavazza, one of the most important coffee producers in the world, to manage the distribution of their product throughout Portugal and Spain.
Lavazza will have an area dedicated to its operations in a multi-user warehouse located on the outskirts of Barcelona, Spain. CEVA will manage the inbound logistics for goods arriving from Lavazza’s factory in Italy, as well as storage of all products before onward delivery to customers in Spain and Portugal. CEVA is already responsible for the logistics operations at the Italian central warehouse in Turin.
This contract further enhances CEVA’s presence within the Consumer and Retail sector and demonstrates the logistics provider’s ability to offer customers integrated solutions across multiple geographies.
The main reason that Lavazza chose CEVA as its partner was the constant pursuit of excellence in operations and service flexibility which have been recognized in the logistics operator. Giuseppe Chiellino, Managing Director of CEVA in Iberia, explains: We are delighted with the signing of this new contract. The confidence that Lavazza has placed in CEVA is proof of the excellent solutions we provide in this sector, of the high satisfaction with the services we already provide to our customer in other countries, and that we always strive to deliver impeccable service.
The processes will be controlled using CEVA’s Matrix™ technology platform, specifically the Warehouse Management System (WMS), which manages all warehouse activities. The WMS is part of a suite of Matrix™ technologies that allows CEVA to manage the entire supply chain, seamlessly connecting inbound, outbound and reverse logistics operations while enabling efficient monitoring of inventory and order fulfillment. In addition, the warehouse operations will be integrated with another Matrix™ technology, the Transport Management System (TMS), which will support the distribution of coffee to outlets in Spain and Portugal.
Lavazza is one of the largest coffee producers worldwide with a 48% share of the retail market in Italy and also owns the Café di Roma network in Spain.
