C.H. Robinson Worldwide acquires International Trade & Commerce

Continuing to strengthen its cross-border capabilities, C.H. Robinson Worldwide one of the largest non-asset based third party logistics companies in the world, today announced it acquired certain assets of International Trade & Commerce. ITC is a United States customs brokerage company specializing in warehousing and distribution, headquartered in Laredo, Texas. ITC provides a broad range of services facilitating customers’ international customs brokerage needs across all modes of transportation. Established in 1989 by Hector Tafoya, ITC primarily works with customers in the United States and Mexico. Tafoya has over 20 years in the industry and will continue with the company as C.H. Robinson’s general director of the United States and Mexico Border Operations Center. "ITC strengthens our ability to provide customers a seamless cross-border service package across the United States and Mexico border," said Scott Satterlee, C.H. Robinson senior vice president. "Customers increasingly want a single point of contact to provide visibility and consolidated invoicing in order to achieve optimal efficiency with their transportation spend. ITC greatly enhances our ability to meet those needs." Outside of its prim ary location in Laredo, Texas, ITC is currently engaged in customs activities in many other United States sea, air and land ports. They are C-TPAT certified and a Border Anti- Smuggling Coalition member. C.H. Robinson will continue to operate out of ITC’s 55,000 square foot warehouse and distribution center in Laredo, Texas. Tafoya said, "Customers are looking for a global provider to deliver comprehensive strategic solutions that decrease transit time and risk while increasing reliability, security, and legal compliance. Combining our resources with C.H. Robinson’s increases our ability to meet these growing customer needs." C.H. Robinson has been providing transportation services in Mexico and along the border for over 20 years. Currently, the company has ten offices along the United States and Mexico border with over 100 employees dedicated to those local markets. Offices in Mexico include Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Nuevo Laredo. Satterlee said, "We work hard to find new ways to serve our customers and believe ITC gives us a broader expertise, providing opportunities to grow existing customer relationships and develop new ones. We are very excited for ITC to join the Robinson team." Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
