City Of Toledo Appoints Sharon Speyer To Port Authority Board Of Directors And Reappoints Jerry Chabler For Second Consecutive Term

Toledo, OH – June 7, 2012 – Toledo Mayor Michael P. Bell has recently announced the appointment of Sharon Speyer, President of the Northwest Ohio Region for Huntington National Bank as the newest member of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority Board of Directors. Mayor Bell has also announced this week, the reappointment of Board Member Jerry Chabler for a second consecutive term. Both Ms. Speyer and Mr. Chabler were unanimously confirmed by Toledo City Council.

Before working as president of the Northwest Ohio Region for Huntington National Bank, a subsidiary of Huntington Bancshares - a $52 billion regional bank holding company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio – Ms. Speyer was president of Sky Bank’s Northwest Ohio Region and joined Huntington after the September 2007 merger.

Ms. Speyer received a Juris Doctorate from The University of Toledo, College of Law after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from The Ohio State University. She currently serves on the Imagination Station Board, Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Executive Board, Regional Growth Partnership Board, Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees, Toledo Symphony Board of Trustees, The University of Toledo Innovation Enterprises Board and The University of Toledo Board of Trustees.

Mr. Chabler was originally appointed to the Port Authority Board of Director’s in 1999 and served for four years. He was again appointed to the Board of Directors in October 2008. During his tenure as a Board Member he has served on the Airport Committee, the Human Resources and Community Relations Committee and the Facilities and Development Committee. He currently serves as the Airport Committee Chairman.

Mr. Chabler attended Michigan State University and The University of Toledo, and was a former police officer on the Toledo Police Department. He previously served on the Ohio State Lottery Commission, the Arts Commission Committee of Greater Toledo, and served a four year term on the Ohio State Racing Commission. Mr. Chabler was also executive director of the Toledo Civil Service Commission, as well as a former president and board chairman for the Toledo Testing Laboratory, Inc. In October 2010, he was appointed as a member of Ohio’s first Casino Control Commission.

The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority Board of Directors consists of 13 members – six appointed by the Mayor of the City of Toledo, six appointed by the Lucas County Commissioners and one joint appointment from the City and County.
