Clyde Fitzgerald Reelected to Third Term as South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District

Delegates to this 89th Convention of the South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District concluded the business of the convention today, culminating in the re-election of Clyde Fitzgerald for his third term as President. The three other executive officers of the District were reelected to their respective positions: Michael Dickens as Secretary-Treasurer, Charles Spencer as Executive Vice President and Wilbur Rowell as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer. Benny Holland, Jr., was also reelected President Emeritus.

A number of resolutions were also considered by Convention’s 156 delegates, representing ILA ports from North Carolina south to Miami, Florida and across the Gulf to Brownsville, Texas.

The four-day South Atlantic and Gulf Coast District Convention was held in the Port City of Savannah, Georgia, the busiest port in the District’s region.

All 18 District Vice Presidents representing three regions of the District (South Atlantic (Mid Gulf, and West Gulf) were reelected without opposition.

The West Gulf Vice Presidents are Ted O’Rourke, Tommy Isbell, Larry Sopchak, Lash Chretien, Hillery Langley and James Eli. For the Mid-Gulf region, the Vice Presidents reelected included James McCleland, Ronald Robinson, Donald Evans, James Campbell, Lloyd Irvin and Dwayne Boudreaux. From the South Atlantic region were the following region: Clarence Pittman, Jess Babich, Benjamin Bryan, Henry Rose, Kenneth Riley and Gerardo Becerra

“I thank you all for your continued support and encouragement,” said Clyde Fitzgerald following his unanimous reelection as District President. “We face a number of challenges in the days, months and years ahead, but I’m certain we have the talent, the fortitude and the courage to meet these challenges.”
