Con-way Truckload Raises Nearly $70,000 in Annual Truckloads of Treasures Holiday Giving Campaign

JOPLIN, Mo. ‹ Dec. 3, 2010 ‹ Con-way Truckload, a full-truckload carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced that its employees raised nearly $70,000 in the company's 17th Annual Truckloads of Treasures holiday giving campaign. With this contribution, the company has reached a milestone $1 million donated to local charities since Con-way Truckload's opening in 1951.

Hundreds of Con-way Truckload employees participated in a shopping spree held at the Joplin Target store last night to purchase presents for underprivileged children and senior citizens this holiday season. About one-third of the company's donations funded the shopping spree, while remaining funds were distributed ($3,700 each) to local charities, including: Boys & Girls Club, Area Agency on Aging, The Bridge, Magic Moments Riding Therapy, House of Hope, Children's Haven, Camp Quality and Ronald McDonald House.

The contributions made by Con-way Truckload to the Salvation Army were a wonderful gift to the children and senior citizens in the community who were not expecting much this holiday season, said Mary Poff, Corps Officer, The Salvation Army. We really appreciate the generosity Con-way Truckload has shown us over the years. It's the donations made by companies like this one that help us to support our mission.

To raise funds for Truckloads of Treasures, Con-way Truckload's executive management team and the company's Voices and Values Team donated prizes to be raffled off to employees. Tickets were sold to Con-way Truckload employees in differing dollar amounts, depending on the raffle prize. This year's items included two weeks off with pay; gift cards in amounts ranging from $200 to $300; an Amazon Kindle; and a Wii Bundle.

Con-way Truckload employees dug deep this year and I know it wasn't easy given the current economic climate, said Herb Schmidt, president, Con-way Truckload. Employees at every level of the company pitched in to support our Truckloads of Treasures tradition, and I am proud to be part of an organization of people who want to give back to the community in which they live and work.

Since 1998, Truckloads of Treasures has presented more than $450,000 in employee-raised donations to local organizations through the program.

In addition to the Joplin shopping spree, Con-way Truckload employees assisted company-sponsored charitable efforts in West Memphis, Ark.; Taylor, Mich.; Hazelton, Pa.; and Lancaster and Laredo, Texas.
