Congressman Jim Oberstar Joins NITL's Policy Forum
Congressman Jim Oberstar (D-MN), Chairman of the House of Representatives' Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) will be The National Industrial Transportation League's (NITL) special keynote luncheon speaker at its Washington Freight Transportation Forum on June 10, 2010 in Arlington, VA.
Chairman Oberstar joins an impressive line-up of freight transportation policy makers which also includes U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood who will open the program that morning.
Oberstar has served as Chairman of the T&I Committee since his election to the post in 2007. In the 34 years he has served in Congress. Oberstar has become known as one of Congress's leading experts on transportation policy. From 1989 through 1995, he chaired the Subcommittee on Aviation passing important legislation vital to this segment of the industry. Later, as the ranking Democrat on the full Committee, he worked in a bipartisan manner to take the Highway Trust Fund off budget to ensure that gas taxes are used to fix roads and bridges.
League President Bruce Carlton said Chairman Oberstar's addition to the Forum, will provide attendees with a keen appreciation of how the legislative process will shape the key issues confronting freight transportation professionals. Produced in cooperation with the Journal of Commerce, the Forum's theme is The Future Course for Freight Transport and is designed to showcase key policy makers from government and industry to discuss and examine how the freight transportation industry will be impacted in the months and years ahead.

The Forum will be held at the Sheraton National Hotel, 900 South Orme Street, Arlington, VA 22204 which is conveniently located near Ronald Reagan National Airport.
Free shuttle service to the hotel is available from the airport and from the Pentagon City Metro station.
The Forum's meeting registration includes a reception on the evening of June 9.
