Congressman Mica Heads Washington Freight Transportation Policy Forum
U. S. Congressman John Mica (R-FL) Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure is confirmed as the keynote luncheon speaker at the Washington Freight Transportation Policy Forum to be held March 29, 2011 at the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, VA.
Hosted by The National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) and the Journal of Commerce (JOC) the program, topics and speakers will examine the likely future course and direction for the freight transportation industry.
Mica leads one of the largest committees in Congress with broad jurisdiction over all transportation modes. He is a strong advocate of rebuilding and improving the nation’s highways, airports, rail systems, waterways and maritime transportation systems and other infrastructure in a cost effective manner that responsibly expands employment opportunities. To help achieve these goals, Mica is strongly committed to enacting a long-term reauthorization of federal surface transportation programs.
Mica has served on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee since being elected to Congress in 1992. From 2007 to 2010 he served as the Committee’s Republican leader.
