Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) Directors visit Gujarat Pipavav Port
Mumbai August 20, 2013: Distinguished guests from the management team of CONCOR, India’s largest transporter of containerized cargo visited APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd.), one of India’s fastest growing gateway ports located in Amreli district (Gujarat) belonging to the AP Moller-Maersk group, on 13th August 2013.
The visit was organized to learn more about Pipavav’s recently enabled double-stack high-cube capabilities which coincide with the commencement of CONCOR’s double stack hub at Kathuwas (Rajasthan), a strategic facility for CONCOR, which is expected to spur volumes in North and North-western India for Concor and in turn for APM Terminals Pipavav.
Mr. Yashvardhan, Director- International (Marketing and Operation), CONCOR and Mr. A.K.Poddar, Chief Vigilance Officer, CONCOR were accompanied by Mr. A.Vaasudev Rao, Chief General Manager (North West region). The dignitaries were personally received by Mr. Prakash Tulsiani, Managing Director, APM Terminals Pipavav.
During the visit, the guests witnessed rail side and quay side activities and paid special attention to APM Terminals Pipavav’s state of the art Rail Mounted Gantry Crane (RMGC) yard. The efficiency and turnaround speed at APM Terminals Pipavav were amply demonstrated when CONCOR’s Train No. J29 arrived in their presence at 1600 hrs with 90 TEUs of export containers which were discharged and the same train loaded with 180 TEUs of import containers, clocking a turnaround time of 2.5 hours. The train was flagged off for Kathuwas by Mr. A.K.Poddar, Chief Vigilance officer, CONCOR.
