Crowley Recognized as One of 904 Magazine’s Companies With Heart
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Crowley Maritime Corp.’s charitable efforts in the local community were recently recognized at Jacksonville’s annual Companies with Heart luncheon, hosted by 904 Magazine. The event, formally known as Companies that Care, recognizes local philanthropic organizations that demonstrate community responsibility through outreach efforts.
Crowley’s Katy Keene, manager, employee programs, accepted the award on behalf of the company and thanked 904 Magazine, a publication produced by Jacksonville Magazine, for the recognition.
"We are thrilled with the honor but are equally pleased that so many organizations across the city received attention. This type of positive feedback will hopefully encourage other local organizations to give back and get involved," said Keene. "The more local companies involved, the more of a significant positive impact we can make together."
Each year, Crowley employees give back to their local communities across the U.S. and throughout the Caribbean and Central America. These charitable efforts include mentoring students, fundraising, community beautification projects, and donations to charitable organizations. Crowley also has awarded more than 275 students from select educational institutions throughout the country with scholarships since 1984. The company has also donated more than $2 million over the years to support other educational programs.
"Our company takes pride in making a difference in the Jacksonville community," Crowley’s David Holden, director, human resources. "Our employees have served the local area through a variety of philanthropic organizations, including volunteering for the Safe Harbor Maritime Academy, Second Harvest Food Bank, Heart for Children, Northeast Florida Hospice and so many more. This spirit of giving back has made a tremendous impact in Northeast Florida and beyond."
Keene was accompanied at the luncheon by seven of her colleagues, including Carl Fox, senior vice president, corporate services; Bryan Lee, vice president, human resources; Hannibal Garces, director, management reporting; Irina Araujo, senior analyst, business solutions; Roger Sherles, analyst, liner services; Carol Scarborough, claims representative, and JoAnn Francis, claims coordinator.
