CRST Implements Express Indexing and TRANSFLO Express

Cedar Rapids, Iowa –- February 16, 2010 -- CRST Van Expedited, the long-haul truckload division of CRST International, has implemented Express Indexing and TRANSFLO Express® truck stop scanning from Pegasus TransTech.

CRST, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is among the 30 largest carriers in the U.S. Its Van Expedited group fields 3,400 company drivers and independent contractors with a fleet of 1,600 total power units and 3,300 trailers to keep long-haul loads moving.

Express Indexing from Pegasus TransTech is a paperless software solution that reduces the time and number of people required to route and process incoming electronic documents. Express Indexing software correctly identifies and indexes document images so that they can be routed to the proper department – billing, payroll, or safety for example. Proof-of-delivery, bills of lading, expense receipts, logs, accident reports, and more can arrive from truck stop scanning systems or from in-house or other document scanners.

CRST looked to reduce costs and processing delays associated with outsourcing indexing tasks, said Scott Szymanek, vice president of financial planning at CRST. Express Indexing allows CRST to speed the flow of documents throughout our organization more cost efficiently.

At the same time CRST Van Expedited has implemented TRANSFLO Express. CRST Malone, the company’s flatbed affiliate with 1,200 power units, has been using TRANSFLO Express since 2004.

“TRANSFLO Express reduced paperwork and made our administrative functions more efficient,” said Mike Gannon, former president of CRST Malone and president of Van Expedited since 2007.

Now CRST drivers from both companies can have their critical documents scanned at participating truck stops for instant transmission to the home office. TRANSFLO Express scanning is available at more than 500 truck stops, including Pilot, Love’s, Bosselman’s, and many independents. CRST Van Expedited has also installed TRANSFLO Express scanning at its terminal in Fontana, Ca.

Among other important documents, truck stop scanning has expedited the arrival and thus the auditing of driver log sheets. With TRANSFLO Express, delivery documents are scanned at truck stops by trained cashiers, and delivered within seconds to the fleet's corporate office for immediate processing. Fleets can bill customers and process payroll the same day the load is delivered -- even if they don't have an imaging system.

CRST Van Expedited joins the growing number of carriers of all sizes using TRANSFLO Express and Express Indexing to speed billing and payroll cycles, improve cash flow, reduce operating costs, and provide same day proof-of-delivery to customers.

We're very pleased to be working with CRST providing efficiencies for both their drivers and shipper customers, said Frank Adelman, senior vice president of Pegasus TransTech. Our low-touch, no-touch solutions will allow CRST to eliminate the hassles of outsourcing.
