Damco earns top marks from Gartner for its instant-access web portal solution, myDamco

Logistics customers need fast responses, and myDamco's unique one-click feature, allowing instant answers to a range of questions, has quickly become immensely popular. And now Gartner – the top IT research and advisory company – has acclaimed it an outstanding tool. In a new survey, Gartner names myDamco one of the leading web solutions in the logistics industry.

myDamco presents information across the supply chain in a personalised and flexible format. Damco, a leading world provider of freight forwarding and supply chain management solutions, has used its vast knowledge of customer needs to create a multi-function customer interface.

The accolade from Gartner focuses on the portal's flexibility. One click allows the customer to:

  • make bookings
  • do reporting
  • track and trace, including CO2 emissions
  • manage documents
  • undertake exception handling

New in 2011 are personal dashboards, allowing users to customize their myDamco page.

Also introduced this year are widgets that give users quick, 24-hour visible access to their scheduled reports and recent searches.

Tracking by phone

In June, Damco became the first in the logistics industry to introduce mobile tracking on the top smartphones - iPhone, Android and Blackberry. And in the pipeline are plans to enable secured information such as dashboards on mobile devices. Social technologies may also be adopted which allow even closer cooperation with customers.

At Gartner Consulting, Damco's customer focused innovations clearly impressed the writers of the new report. Peter Suhr, senior managing partner, notes that next year, e-business maturity is expected to grow significantly in the logistics sector. But while the sector as a whole is burgeoning, Damco has – in just one year – steamed ahead of the competition. Damco has achieved the biggest growth. In 2010 Damco had little or no customer-directed IT services. Today, the company offers a mature and competitive solution, Mr. Suhr said.

Praise that delighted Damco CCO Martin Thaysen:

The acknowledgment from Gartner tells us we are meeting – even exceeding – the market's expectations, said Mr. Thaysen. We have moved ahead because we maintain constant dialogue with our customers. Their input drives us to deliver what they need, and even go beyond their wishes.

It's a highly competitive market, but we feel sure that our customer facing solutions will help us keep valued customers, and attract new ones.
