DB Schenker marks 50th year of business in Argentina

(Berlin/Essen/Buenos Aires, November 18, 2010) DB Schenker has been active in Argentina for fifty years and has grown from being a receiving agent for air and ocean freight to one of the leading providers of logistics services in Argentina. However, challenging conditions didn't make it easier: the country was shaken by a major economic crisis in 2001, and the terms of 17 of the country's 24 presidents ended prematurely during the past 50 years.

Today, Schenker Argentina S.A. is present in five locations with its own facilities. In addition to its main office in Buenos Aires, the company operates an airport location as well as a highly modern logistics center in the capital. Branch offices in Mendoza und Cordoba have been providing services to key economic regions in the interior for years. About 300 employees actively serve the needs of trade and industrial customers.

The company's main customers include the international automotive industry and its suppliers, entertainment electronics, as well as the consumer goods industry and food producers. DB Schenker offers the full range of freight forwarding and logistics services, as well as customs clearance. Among the important countries served by Schenker air and ocean freight are the USA, Germany, France and Italy, as well as the Asian region, especially China.

The latest logistics project in Argentina has to meet the highest requirements: DB Schenker is embedded in the production of the VW¹s new Amarok pickup model and delivers parts as needed and in the order required to build about 500 vehicles per day.

Schenker Argentina S.A. is DB Schenker's oldest national company in South America. DB Schenker is also active with its own companies in Brazil, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. The company works with proven partners in other countries that are integrated into the worldwide network.

Our success shows that good performance and a high commitment makes it possible to win and keep customers, even in an environment that is not always an easy one, said Dr. Thomas C. Lieb, Chairman of the Schenker AG Management Board and responsible for global air and ocean freight during a reception for more than 350 customers in Buenos Aires. This also applies similarly to our other national companies in South America. I am optimistic that we will participate in this continent¹s economic growth. And I am certain that customers from around the world will use our network to benefit from our presence in South America.
