Derby Quality Control Manager Receives Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
Louisville, Kentucky October 27, 2011 - Darrell Phillips, the Director of Operations at Derby recently received his ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt certification. He joins Peter Baron, the Corporate Quality Manager, who is a Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
Black Belt certification implies a thorough understanding of Six Sigma’s philosophies, which seek to improve quality in manufacturing by indentifying and eliminating inefficiencies.
The Six Sigma Black Belt course trains on how to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control to make improvements in processes by employing quality management techniques and utilizing statistical analyses. The Six Sigma Black Belt certification is given only to those whocomplete rigorous testing, and demonstrate the ability to apply techniques and methodologies in a practical setting.
This certification adds to Mr. Phillip’s strong background in quality management, with 34 years experience in the manufacturing industry and 8 years with Derby. He has served in multiple roles within the manufacturing field.
Mr. Phillip received his bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Western Illinois University, and has also completed Quality Improvement training and Team Facilitator training at Juran Institute in Connecticut.
