DHL Global Forwarding Americas Moves Its Headquarters from Plantation to Doral by End of 2010

New Facility is LEED Certified, in-Line with the Corporate Goal of Achieving Five Percent CO2 Efficiency Improvements

DHL Global Forwarding Americas announced today that they will be moving their headquarters from Plantation, FL to the City of Doral in Miami-Dade County. The new facility is LEED certified, signifying it has met environmental sustainability standards for its design, construction and operation, consistent with the company’s GoGreen program by reducing its carbon emissions by five percent. Located at 1801 NW 82nd Avenue, the new headquarters will house all of Global Forwarding’s employees, currently located at the Miami Gateway, Miami branch and Plantation offices. Employees located in Miami will begin relocating in October 2010, while those in Plantation will move to the new facilities towards the end of the 2010 fourth quarter.

“This move will be extremely beneficial for our operations because all employees will be located in the same facility,” said Hans Toggweiler, CEO DHL Global Forwarding Americas. “It will allow for greater knowledge sharing and collaboration among our employees, and create an environment with increased operations efficiency that will enable us to better serve our customers.”

The 201,000 square feet headquarters is close to Miami International Airport, off of the Palmetto Expressway and the Dolphin Expressway; it will house a total of 220 employees. No further plans are in place for any of the other DHL business units to relocate and no interruptions to the company’s operations are expected during this transition.

Through its environmental protection program GoGreen, Deutsche Post DHL aims to minimize its impact on the environment based on a precautionary approach and improved resource efficiency worldwide. Deutsche Post DHL is committed to improve the CO2 efficiency of its own operations and those of its subcontractors by 30 % by the year 2020, compared to the 2007 baseline. This means reducing the CO2 emissions for every letter and parcel sent, every tonne of cargo transported and every square meter of warehouse space used.
