DHL Global Forwarding selected as Gold and Bronze 2012 American Business Awards winner

MIAMI, Fla. – June 20, 2012: DHL, the world's leading logistics company, announces its Global Forwarding division’s Columbia, South Carolina Customs House Brokerage (CHB) Instructional Training team has been chosen as The 10th Annual American Business Awards Gold Award winner in the Human Resources Team of the Year category. The U.S. Customer Service team was also presented with the Bronze Award in the Customer Service Team of the Year category. The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program.

“Being selected as the winner of the American Business Awards acknowledges the art of effective design that is required to align training programs to business needs,” said Brent Biedermann, senior director, Learning & Development, DHL Global Forwarding, Americas. “The DHL CHB Instructional Training team developed a solution that saved time and money and left participants feeling motivated and skilled so that they can more effectively serve customers.”

The 2012 American Business Awards’ finalists were determined by more than 140 executives nationwide over a period of five weeks. The Human Resources Team of the Year and Customer Service Team of the Year winners were selected based on their past performances, accomplishments, overcome obstacles, innovations and outcomes during 2011. The CHB Instructional team in Columbia was chosen as a Gold winner for the DGF CHB Learning Curriculum Program it implemented in March 2011. The Program is aimed at improving productivity, efficiency and employee satisfaction among its new employees in the DHL Global Forwarding CAE station in Columbia.

Comprised of three components, the DGF CHB Learning Curriculum Program is based on engaging employees in hands-on development of skills, preparing and investing for future development through mentoring, and assessment of employee development needs. The Program has transformed productivity among new hires and increased employee upward mobility, retention, and job satisfaction.

The DHL Global Forwarding U.S. Customer Service team received the Bronze Customer Team of the Year Award based on their use of technology to decrease manual processes by automating them and providing greater shipment visibility to ensure fewer delays and faster delivery times for customers.

The 2012 winners were announced at the 10th annual awards gala in New York City on June 18.
