DHL Implements Company-wide Paper Policy as Part of Their GoGreen Program

As part of the recently announced Deutsche Post DHL Corporate Paper Policy, to minimize the company’s environmental impact, the Americas DHL Global Forwarding GoGreen function expands its alignment to the policy by including a vast array of other goods. The GoGreen program is part of the Deutsche Post DHL’s Strategy 2015, which was rolled out last year and has as one of its main objectives a five percent efficiency reduction of the company’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Aimed at reducing paper consumption throughout the entire company, the newly initiated global Paper Policy, targeted across 220 countries and territories, requires preference be given to the procurement of recycled paper over any other type of paper. The company is ensuring it meets a criteria based on sustainability, conservation of resources, and efficiency when selecting the paper, paper products, paper-based print products and packaging it uses on a daily basis. The commitment to decreasing dependency on fossil fuels and preparing for a low-carbon economy will help reduce costs over the long-term, ultimately benefiting customers and the communities in which they live. The DHL Global Forwarding Americas team has taken several steps to engage its employees and make environmental consciousness a way of life in the Americas region. It is the only business division of DHL to have a full-time employee dedicated to its GoGreen initiatives. DHL Global Forwarding has also expanded upon the existing Paper Policy guidelines of paper selection and procurement by encouraging its employees to recycle, reuse and minimize waste, not only of paper, but also office furniture and business cards, among other items. “DHL Global Forwarding takes its responsibility of protecting the environment very seriously. On a day-to-day basis we rely on air, ocean, truck and rail as the means by which we ship our clients’ freight; we understand it is instrumental that we do our part to protect natural resources in and out of the office,” said Sonia Nun~ez, Head of GoGreen for DHL Global Forwarding, Americas. GoGreen products and services are offered by all business units in the Americas region and the combination of these initiatives will establish a workforce that fosters the responsible use of resources and helps meet the company’s sustainability targets.
