DSC Wins Kellogg Company's "Top Gun Award" for 2010
Chicago, Illinois (February 17, 2011) - DSC Logistics, an integrated logistics and supply chain management company headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois, has won Kellogg Company's Top Gun Award for the fourth time. The award is Kellogg Company's highest honor given to third-party logistics providers and recognizes excellence in service, cost, quality and innovation in the retail category. Winning first place for the 2010 Top Gun were DSC's Atlanta/Atlanta Annex Logistics Centers. DSC's Logistics Centers in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and West Jefferson, Ohio, finished second and third.
In presenting the award, Scott Peavy, regional distribution director for Kellogg said the Top Gun winners represent the best in class operations and dedication to excellence. To qualify for the award, the DSC operations in Atlanta achieved outstanding scores on three Kellogg audits. They scored a Superior rating on the AIB audit and had the lowest TIR in the network. DSC has also won several other awards from Kellogg recently. In 2010 DSC's West Jefferson Logistics Center was presented with the inaugural Builder's Choice award recognizing outstanding Display Management. Also in 2010, DSC received the newly created Diamond Award recognizing diverse supplier companies with which Kellogg spends $25 million or more annually. In 2008 and 2009, DSC was named a founding member of the Platinum Club, which preceded the Diamond Club for women- and minority-owned businesses.
The partnership between DSC and Kellogg dates back to 1988 and since then, the partners have successfully executed a number of major changes including conversion to SAP system, network realignment, a platform change, and expanded value-added services. In March of 2008, DSC was awarded additional business from Kellogg including the two Atlanta Logistics Centers. In winning this year's Top Gun, these operations have undergone a complete transformation given that they had historically been in last place under a previous logistics provider. By 2011, DSC will be managing a combined total of approximately 4 million square feet of warehouse space for Kellogg in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.
