June 2009 – Eastern Connection, the largest Regional Express Logistics Provider on the East Coast, is the “Official Delivery Sponsor” of the American Heart Association’s 2nd Annual Lawyers Have Heart 5K Road Race. Eastern Connection is a longtime supporter of the American Heart Association and has an ongoing commitment to supporting charitable activities & organizations. Each February, in honor of Eastern Connection’s own anniversary, EC provides pro bono deliveries for the AHA’s “Wear Red Day”, an event dedicated to highlighting the dangers and causes of heart disease.

The Lawyer’s Have Heart 5K Road race, hosted by the AHA, took place on June 11, 2009, and was attended by over 1,000 individuals involved in the Boston-area legal industry. Eastern Connection both sponsored the event and volunteered time and effort to support this cause. Eastern Connection provided pro bono pre race day deliveries for the AHA, and EC staff contributed by serving as both volunteers and runners at the event. In addition, support for our runners raised an extra $500 to donate on top of Eastern Connection’s corporate donation.

“The American Heart Association’s Lawyers Have Heart takes a critical step toward raising vital funds and awareness of heart disease and stroke, both of which profoundly affect the legal profession. In the last sixteen years Lawyers Have Heart in Washington DC has raised more than $5 million and is considered one of the top ten road races in the area.”
