Encompass Opens Regional Headquarters in New York City, Hires Seasoned Executive Team
IRVINE, California -- Encompass Global Logistics LLC, a fast-growing 3PL that is ranked among the top 20 operators in the Transpacific trade, announced today that it has opened a new regional headquarters in New York City as part of an ongoing strategy to establish offices close to its customers.
Tom Hickey joins Encompass to head the New York office, which also is supported by two new directors of sales, Thomas O’Rourke and Christine Johnson Haddad. The Manhattan office oversees current business for Encompass Global Logistics in the U.S. North and Southeast and is responsible for new business development in those areas.
“We opened a new regional headquarters office in midtown Manhattan to place our team closer to the diversified, international customer base located in this fast-paced and growing region,” says Asa Cheng, Encompass CEO. “Whereas most 3PL firms and ocean carriers have left Manhattan, we see growth continuing in New York and the surrounding territories for years to come.”
Tom Hickey comes to Encompass with a diverse background in logistics and supply chain management that includes extensive experience in ocean and air freight as well as consolidation and de-consolidation services. He also brings a strong retail focus, having previously served as vice president for fashion retail and national accounts at DHL Express. While at DHL, Hickey managed a 60-member Northeast national accounts team that generated more than $500m in annual revenue. Hickey also executed a business strategy that resulted in DHL’s sponsorship of all Fashion Week activities in New York, Los Angeles and Miami and led to the company’s nomination as the preferred provider for the fashion industry.
Earlier Hickey was vice president of sales and subsequently the P&L owner and senior executive at American Consolidation Services (ACS), where he managed more than 1000 employees around the globe and helped execute an aggressive customer acquisition and retention strategy that significantly grew corporate revenues.
“Tom is heading up the entire region and we are honored to have him on the Encompass team,” says Cheng. “We are confident that he will bring a new level of service to our customer base, especially those in the retail and fashion industries.” Cheng notes that Encompass has plans to open a second New York office in the heart of the garment district “to help our customers grow their business and keep up with market and global demands.”
As directors of sales in the new office, Thomas O’Rourke and Christine Johnson Haddad report directly to Hickey. O’Rourke previously was vice president of business development at Network America Lines, area sales manager at NYK Lines, and general sales manager at CP Ships. He also held the positions of general sales manager, Westbound sales manager and senior sales representative at Cast North America.
Johnson Haddad’s experience includes more than 20 years as a senior account executive working for Maersk Line, where she managed global service contracts for a wide range of customers that represented more than $25 million in annual revenue.
“We are very pleased to have Christine and Thomas at Encompass.
Both have a proven track-record in international logistics and are well-versed in the Trans-Pacific trade lane. They will play an important role in positioning our company for profitable growth in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic,” says Hickey.
