Essex Group Expands Relationship with Transplace for North American Transportation Management Technology and Expertise

DALLAS — Transplace, a leading provider of transportation management services and logistics technology solutions, today announced that Essex Group, Inc. (Essex Group) has successfully implemented Transplace’s Transportation Management System (TMS) for optimizing and managing all North American inbound shipments. Leveraging Transplace’s strategic expertise and logistics technology has allowed Essex Group to improve carrier selection and communication, and drive cost savings.

A North American manufacturer of wire and cable products and accessories, Essex Group has been a customer of Transplace Mexico since 2010 and was eager to expand this successful relationship into the United States and Canada. Transplace used its engineering expertise and award-winning software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology to automate the manufacturer’s inbound transportation management activities. Essex Group is in the process of expanding its use of Transplace’s TMS for all outbound shipments in order to identify and execute consolidation and mode optimization opportunities, improve service to customers and achieve greater cost savings.

“As part of our focus to design a world class supply chain — from demand planning through product distribution — it was important for Essex Group to have a strategic partner like Transplace who could guide us with an experienced hand in transportation management,” said Essex Group Magnet Wire Supply Chain Director John VanderVries. “Transplace performed a very thorough analysis of our data, and showed us how we could improve our transportation network to offer better results to our customers. Transplace understands that Essex Group’s objectives are focused on customer service and strong performance, while continually improving our own business, and the company supports these goals through its technology and service.”

Essex Group ships magnet wire across North America, and by using the results of Transplace’s engineering analysis and SaaS technology, the company has increased visibility and improved reporting, allowing for a proactive approach to shipments and mode options.

“We’re pleased that Essex Group recognized Transplace’s high service levels in Mexico and has expanded the partnership into the United States and Canada,” said Thomas Koontz, vice president, Transplace. “We have successfully launched our TMS for Essex Group’s inbound shipments and are working to do the same for outbound shipments in order to provide the company with the same world-class technology for its entire North American transportation network. Through our engineering and data-driven analysis, Transplace will help Essex Group achieve its financial objectives while offering better service to its customers.”
