Estes Express Lines Employees Lend a Helping Hand for America's Troops
RICHMOND, VA — From the East Coast to the West Coast and the heartland in between, Estes employees expressed their appreciation for America’s military personnel this past December through the company’s patriotic initiative, Encourage the Living, Honor the Fallen.
Working with the organization Give2TheTroops, Estes’ employees, customers and members of surrounding communities generously donated over 13,000 pounds of much needed personal supplies for America’s service men, women and even some canine troops. Items were collected at terminals across the country, consolidated at key locations and then transported to Give2TheTroops branch sites in Greenville, NC; Rocky Hill, CT; and Albany, OR, where the packages were prepared for delivery to U.S. troops deployed to combat and disaster-relief zones around the world.
Donations included practical, but much needed items, like socks, blankets, toiletries and batteries. Board games, disposable cameras, DVDs and plenty of sweet and savory treats were also given. Gifts of the tail-wagging variety included dry food, toys and brushes.
Additionally, as part of its Encourage the Living, Honor the Fallen initiative, Estes donated transportation and logistics services to Wreaths Across America to honor veterans who dedicated their lives to preserve our nation’s freedoms. Estes transported over 12,000 wreaths to veteran’s cemeteries across America, including Arlington Cemetery, as part of the annual nationwide wreath laying ceremony organized by Wreaths Across America on December 10. Estes also donated 5,000 wreaths in honor of its customers this holiday season.
