FedEx Custom Critical Launches Temp-Assure® Shipping Studies

UNIONTOWN, Ohio--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--FedEx Custom Critical, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), recently launched a new service called Temp-Assure Shipping Studies. This service enables customers to improve the quality of their temperature-control supply chain through a combination of research, evaluation and recommendations related to specific shipping methods and lanes.

In conducting a Temp-Assure Shipping Study, the FedEx Custom Critical team uses its expertise in temperature-control transportation to examine various aspects of a customer’s cold- chain protocol, which can include shipping lane, packaging configuration and/or container choice. This extensive research results in recommendations on new shipping options or enhancements to the customer’s current plans. FedEx Custom Critical can also create a protocol and/or transportation plan specifically for the customer. The new consultative service is available for U.S. and international shipping.

Customers can use the information to help support their FDA compliance efforts. Examples include those who have received a 483 Warning Letter from the FDA, emerging new drug companies and large pharmaceutical companies releasing new products.

“Temp-Assure Shipping Studies enables us to offer customers a service that goes beyond our surface and air transportation services, it allows us to offer our temperature-control expertise,” said FedEx Custom Critical President and CEO Virginia Albanese. “Customers have been asking us for this level of support in building their temperature-control shipping plans for quite some time. We are happy to be able to draw upon our 20-plus years of experience in handling temperature-control shipments to benefit our customers in new ways.”

The Shipping Studies research and analysis process can help improve quality and meet the customer’s compliance standards on particular shipping lanes, packaging methods or other aspects of their temperature-control shipping process. And as a result, the research findings can help to mitigate the risk associated with a customer’s supply chain.

“At FedEx Custom Critical much of our business involves responding to customer challenges inherent in shipping high-value freight,” Albanese said. “In this case, we want to be on the front end with our customers to build solid transportation plans that result in successful shipping experiences. If you can identify potential hurdles in your temperature-control shipping process – and the solutions to those potential hurdles – before you ever ship, you will be more successful. We want to help make that happen for our customers.”
