GIBSONIA, PA, May 20, 2019 – We are looking for a hero. The founder of Knichel Logistics, William “Bill” Knichel, is in need of a lifesaving kidney donation. He has been living with severe chronic kidney disease/failure for over the past four years. Due to the severity and progression of the illness, his recovery options are limited to receiving a kidney transplant within this year. Here are ways in which someone could help Bill:
You must be a generally healthy adult between the ages of 18-55 who would consider donating a kidney to either Bill directly or via the living donor share program. You cannot have had cancer in the last 3-4 years, nor have had a major disease to be a donor. Bill’s blood type is A+. Compatible blood types are A+, AB+, A-, O-, O+. All expenses or lost work time will be reimbursed or covered by insurance. The process is usually 2-4 days in the hospital, and depending on the type of work you do, a 1-4-week home stay before you can return to work. You can live anywhere in the United States to participate in this lifesaving program.

William Knichel’s Career in the Transportation Industry:
After finishing up service with the military in 1972, I worked in construction and the restaurant and bar industry while continuing my education. In 1974, I was offered a sales position with the KCS Railroad. While at KCS, I trained in operations in Kansas City and throughout the Midwest and then moved back to NYC in a sales position until I was offered a position with the MKT Railroad. Within a year, I was transferred to Pittsburgh in 1980 along with a promotion to Sales Manager. As the company’s top salesperson, I was promoted again in 1982 to Regional Sales Manager overseeing 5 offices. In 1986, the MKT Railroad was bought by the Union Pacific Railroad and my new position was meant to be in Omaha, NE. As a single father of three, I turned the position down to remain in Pittsburgh with my family. I then accepted a position with National Piggyback in sales, and in 1996 was offered my own franchise office with a competitor. That was the true start of Knichel Logistics as it is known today. In 2006, I stepped aside after 32 years in the industry and promoted my daughter Kristy to CEO and President. I then gifted a portion of the business to my three children, who have guided the company through significant growth in the last 13 years. Currently, I retain the title of Chairman and provide guidance and consulting as well as acting as a good will ambassador.
