Geodis Group “Logistics of the year” in Italy
Geodis Group has been awarded “Il Logistico dell’anno” (Logistics of the year) 2010 for the innovative 4PL project .
The award founded and organized by Assologistica, Euromerci (association’s newspaper) and Assologistica Cultura e Formazione, has been presented to Geodis Italy.
“It is with a great satisfaction that we receive this prestigious award – noticed Mr. Francesco Cazzaniga – as an acknowledgment of the continuous commitment lavished during these years on the improvement of Geodis’ offer, that brings us today to be one of the worldwide leader on supply chain management”.
“Il Logistico dell’anno”, reaching its 6th edition, is the only Italian logistics sector’s event, whose target is to highlight and to award companies, managers and academics that distinguished themselves for the introduction of innovations on technologies, real estates, environment and transports sectors.
The 2010 edition awarded Geodis Group for the 4PL project, whereby the Group developed the “4th logistics part role and it can offer its customers the management of the whole supply chain as the only provider for all the logistics requirements in more than 120 countries worldwide”, as underlined on the Jury’s motivation.
Geodis Group’s 4PL project has been processed after IBM Global Logistics’ acquisition - the worldwide company dedicated to IBM logistics activities – and the contract signed with IBM for the management of the whole supply chain.
Geodis, through the development of the “4PL concept”, has become a real neutral partner offering its customers the ability to optimize their supply chain selecting and managing the best worldwide suppliers, with a special regard to emerging markets.
Geodis, in this new 4PL role, assured its customers end-to-end visibility, commitment on management, a continuous qualitative improvement and costs optimization.
Geodis Supply Chain Optimisation is the new division specifically created to realize the 4PL project, it grants maximum transparency on customers and partners relationships thanks to a win-to-win approach.
With this innovative project, Geodis has become the worldwide leader on 4PL services offer, differentiating and strengthening the Group’s presence in important areas, such as U.S.A., Canada, Brazil, China and India.
