Georgia Ports Authority’s Publications Win Top Awards

Savannah, Ga. – November 22, 2010 – The Georgia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Atlanta chapter of International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) awarded the Georgia Ports Authority’s (GPA) FY2009 Annual Report: Poised for Recovery first place in 2010 competitions.

The annual report received the Phoenix Award from PRSA Georgia (Annual Reports Up to $500 Million) and a Gold Flame from IABC/Atlanta (Annual Report: Overall). This was the fourth year in a row for GPA’s annual report to win with PRSA Georgia and third year in a row to receive the overall top annual report honor with IABC/Atlanta.

The GPA’s quarterly publication, AnchorAge magazine, received top honors with a Gold Flame from IABC/Atlanta. IABC/Atlanta also honored GPA’s FY2009 annual report with a Silver Flame for annual report design and a Bronze Flame for annual report writing. PRSA awarded GPA Certificates of Excellence for GPA’s Great People in Action magazine and the Georgia Ports Maritime Safety Council’s safety video.

“Recognition by these communications industry organizations signifies our annual report, as well as our other public relations materials, rank among the best of the best,” said GPA’s Executive Director Curtis J. Foltz. “These publications exemplify GPA’s commitment to leadership and innovation, as well as the excellent work of our communications team to share our story and solidify our brand.”

GPA’s External Affairs department produced the FY2009 annual report, AnchorAge magazine and Great People in Action magazine under the leadership of GPA’s Director of External Affairs Robert Morris.

Georgia’s deepwater ports and inland barge terminals support more than 295,000 jobs throughout the state annually and contribute $15.5 billion in income, $61.7 billion in revenue and $2.6 billion in state and local taxes to Georgia’s economy.
