Goals for Southern California Air Quality and International Trade Previewed at Annual Maritime Industry Luncheon in April
WHAT: The Pacific Merchant Shipping Association Annual Luncheon brings together more than 150 leaders from the West Coast marine terminal, ocean carrier, port and trade logistics communities to hear from key decision makers and engage in discussions about major policy issues affecting California’s economy and environment.
WHO: Dr. Barry Wallerstein, executive officer of the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) will be the keynote speaker at the annual gathering for leaders in California’s global trade industry. Dr. Wallerstein has nearly three decades of experience in air pollution control as well as public policy development at the local, state and national level. Given the SCAQMD’s challenging role to reduce emissions to meet federal health-based air quality standards, and the importance of the goods movement industry to those goals, Dr. Wallerstein’s comments are expected to be timely and thought-provoking. Previous luncheon speakers include state Constitutional officers, legislators, federal officials and members of Congress, regulators, academics, social commentators, leading columnists and reporters, and industry luminaries.
