Gov. Beverly Perdue Appoints Longistics Chairman Duane Long To N.C. Department of Commerce China Advisory Council
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Longistics, a full-service provider of global logistics solutions, has announced that Duane Long, chairman, has been appointed to the North Carolina Department of Commerce China Advisory Council. The China Advisory Council is a group of North Carolina leaders who will provide guidance on how the state can best build productive relationships with Chinese government officials as well as business and industry. Long will provide insight on strategies for building strong ties with China, increasing Chinese foreign direct investment and helping North Carolina businesses increase their trade with Chinese industry.

- In 2006, Long was instrumental in creating a new venture to expand the pace and involvement of North Carolina and its logistics and supply chain industries into the world marketplace through the creation of The North Carolina China Center (NCCC). Housed at the World Trade Park, in the Longistics headquarters building, NCCC has a mission of creating of bridges of understanding between businesses, as well as cultural and educational institutions, in North Carolina and the greater China region (GCR) comprising Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
- Over the first three years of the Center’s existence, major Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were signed with businesses, industrial parks, educational and cultural institutions in China.
- In 2009, Longistics partnered with SeAll, the Chinese government’s IFTZ operator and entity responsible for Logistics within the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), to establish the SIP International Commodities Exhibition Center. The Center provides a showcase for U.S. companies to display their products and services to the Chinese market in a safe, secure environment.
- Long co-founded Long Transportation, the predecessor company of Longistics, in 1984 after recognizing the potential for corporate outsourcing of logistics services as one of the fastest growing segments in the logistics industry. In 1992, Long developed a strategy of globalization and created a new division, Longistics International, with a mission to build a blueprint and a framework for expansion of the organization’s expansion into the growing global logistics and supply chain environment.
- In 2005, Longistics became the premier operator Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) in North Carolina, with Research Triangle FTZ 93 in Research Triangle Park and Global TransPark FTZ 214 in Eastern North Carolina.
