GT Nexus Shipper Council Members to Present at TPM Conference
Oakland, CA – MARCH 2, 2011 – GT Nexus today announced that key members from its Shipper Council will form an industry expert panel at the upcoming Transpacific Maritime (TPM) Conference in Long Beach. TPM is one of the ocean shipping industry’s largest events, drawing more than 1500 delegates from shippers, carriers, 3PLs, ports and technology providers.
The session is titled “Breaking the Cycle: Moving Beyond Conflict in BCO-Carrier Relations”
The Shipper Council was formed in 2007 by a group of GT Nexus customers who wanted to collaborate on finding solutions to commonly shared problems in a way that would benefit the entire GT Nexus user community. Today, the group takes a collective approach to sharing best practices, benchmarking, data quality improvements and partner collaboration. Collectively, the Shipper Council has over $10 billion in logistics spending power.
Participation at the TPM conference was driven by the council’s desire to improve the way shippers and carriers work together. The past year was the most challenging period in modern times for BCO-carrier relations, because of capacity, fuel-price and consumer demand issues. In this session, members of the GT Nexus customer shipper council will discuss the lessons learned and steps they are taking to improve shipper-carrier relations going forward.
Open dialogue on the issues is the only way to make progress toward mutual understanding and benefit,” noted Gary Ferrulli, president at Global Logistics and Transport Consulting, LLC and panel moderator. “The shippers are participating on this panel because they share that belief and are actively working to make it happen.
TPM takes place on March 7-8, in Long Beach California. For more information visit: http://guest.cvent.com/d/7dqvgb
