Hapag-Lloyd wins a trio of awards in the USA

Hapag-Lloyd America has received three awards for high service quality from major clients in the USA within a matter of weeks. The US company Alcoa – one of the world's market-leading manufacturers and processors of aluminium – for the first time named Hapag-Lloyd the best global container shipping company among its service providers. The judges' criteria were the volume of North American imports and exports and the punctuality of deliveries.

Hapag-Lloyd is also one of Eastman's most valued service providers, scooping the US chemical company's Excellence Award for 2011. The prize, which Eastman awards as part of the Eastman Supplier Excellence Program (ESEP), acknowledges Hapag-Lloyd's reliability in offering the company a high quality of service and thereby strengthening its efficiency and competitiveness. With this move, Eastman has confirmed the shipping company's key role as one of its most important logistics partners.

Meanwhile, the glass and chemical manufacturer PPG, also from the USA, gave Hapag-Lloyd its PPG Excellent Supplier Award for outstanding customer service. This makes

Hapag-Lloyd the first liner shipping company in the last 20 years to be singled out from among all the firm's worldwide suppliers for the PPG Excellent Supplier Award.

Wolfgang Freese, President of Hapag-Lloyd America, was delighted with the awards: On behalf of our dedicated staff I am very proud of these achievements which clearly recognise the sound quality of work provided to our valuable customers.

In 2011, Hapag-Lloyd transported approx. 5.2 million TEU and generated revenue of around EUR 6.1 billion. The Company has more than 6,900 employees at 300 sites in 114 countries.
