Holland Expands Freeze Protection Service to Western Canada

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – February 3, 2011 – Holland, a subsidiary of YRC Worldwide Inc. (Nasdaq: YRCW), announced today that its Freeze Protection Service is now available for shipments moving to Western Canada. Freeze Protection Service is ideal for products which are susceptible to freezing during transit, such as chemicals, bottled liquids, pharmaceuticals and agricultural goods.

Rogers explains that Holland engineered is original Freeze Protection Service by combining its leadership in next-day service with an investment in technologies and an emphasis on process compliance. “We have the most next-day lanes in our service area, which reduces the likelihood shipments will freeze. Then, we add the use of warm rooms, CargoQuilt® covers, and specialized equipment to create a service that is extremely reliable.”

The technically-engineered and environmentally-friendly CargoQuilt® covers are available throughout the network and ensure freezable products remain at temperatures greater than 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The warm rooms provide protection for shipments experiencing extended stays – such as over weekends – or in the case of extreme cold temperatures. In Canada, Holland Freeze Protection Service is implemented in partnership with YRC Reimer, a YRC Worldwide subsidiary, and uses its insulated refrigerated trailers for cold-sensitive shipments destined to the Western Provinces.

Holland makes Freeze Protection pickups Monday through Friday for all domestic direct-service points, including Ontario and Quebec, as well as for shipments to Western Canada.

To schedule the Holland Freeze Protection Service, customers simply mark their bill of lading (BOL) with “Protect from freezing” and label the shipment with “Protect from freezing.”
