IAG CARGO DELIVERS INDIGENOUS AUSTRALIAN ARTEFACTS FOR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED BRITISH MUSEUM EXHIBITION

IAG Cargo has successfully transported 10 irreplaceable artefacts and artworks for the BP exhibition Indigenous Australia: enduring civilisation, which opens on 23rd April. The items travelled over 10,000 miles from Australia to the UK through Secure, IAG Cargo’s high-security service. The delivery was supported by IAG Cargo’s role as official logistics partner for the event and highlights the carrier’s reputation for quality, care and security in the delivery of precious goods.

During the delivery, IAG Cargo’s Secure team worked alongside specialists from the British Museum and National Museum of Australia to help ensure the maximum care possible was taken in the transport of these priceless artefacts. The team worked in IAG Cargo’s custom-designed handling areas that incorporate the very latest in state-of-the-art security technology.

Steve Gunning, CEO at IAG Cargo, said: “Being entrusted to deliver these culturally significant artefacts for the British Museum is a tremendous privilege and underscores the strength of the Secure product. Our continued investment in our products, network and staff has delivered positive results for what promises to be a hugely important exhibition and there’s a real sense of excitement at being associated with it.”

Jill Maggs, Registrar at the British Museum, commented: “The items we are fortunate enough to be able to borrow from Australia are an essential part of the exhibition. IAG Cargo has exceeded our expectations and demonstrated it shares our values by providing the utmost care while handling these unique and highly important artefacts. Now that these wonderful objects are safely in London, we can finish preparations for what we hope our audiences will find a fascinating exhibition.”

The BP exhibition Indigenous Australia: enduring civilisation will run between the 23rd April and 2nd August 2015. The exhibition includes over 170 objects of art and everyday life that reflect indigenous culture, colonial history and the struggle for recognition and rights.
